Flame Effects
Liquefied Propane Gas (LPG) Flame Effect devices are one of the many reasons we come together as a community and we work with artists to make sure participants are safe. Fire is our number one biggest hazard on the Fraya, and making sure flame effects are built and operated in a safe manner is what FB-FAST strives for. Flame effects devices are inspected by our Freezer Burn Fire Art Safety Team (FB-FAST) inspections team, ensuring continued safety for all of our participants. Please complete one registration per device.

While Propane fire pits and appliances do not emit sparks or smoke the same way a traditional wood fire does, we still take them seriously at Freezer Burn. Fire is our number one biggest hazard on the Fraya, and locating them sensibly, securing them from wind, checking them for leaks, and having your propane fire pit or appliance inspected by our Freezer Burn Fire Art Safety Team (FB-FAST) inspections team, we are ensuring continued safety for all of our participants. Please complete one registration per device.

All vehicles that are not person-powered, and are being used on the Fraya (outside of entry and exodus) are considered Mutant Vehicles and must meet the onsite inspections required. Mutant Vehicles include (but are not limited to) Art cars, Mobility vehicles (work trucks, personal golf carts, mobility scooters) or Pleasure craft (one-wheels, gasoline or electric bikes, segways, etc). Each Motorized vehicle requires its own registration. The DMV may decline a license to a vehicle if there is a demonstrable safety concern This form is for Motorized Vehicle Registration (aka Mutant Vehicles). A Mutant Vehicle is a unique, motorized creation that shows little or no resemblance to their original form, or to any standard street vehicle. Mutant Vehicles are radically, stunningly, (usually) permanently, and safely modified from their base vehicle. Sometimes the whole vehicle is made from scratch. And sometimes, they are just a necessity for mobility and accessibility.

Are you thinking about bringing art that you’ve already created but don’t really need an art grant for? We’d absolutely love to make this happen! If you want to bring your art, you will need to contact the Placement Team. They will need to approve and arrange placement of your art piece on the Fraya as well as ensuring it gets listed on the map. Any large art pieces that have not received prior approval by the Placement Team before arriving on the Fraya may be denied setup and/or asked to be removed. Additionally, if your art piece has a fire component, it must also be Fire Art registered with the Fire Art Safety Team (FAST).
