Art Grant Detail
TIP OF THE ICEBERG 2025 - Art grants up to $3000
What will the Tip Of The Iceberg Art Project Grant Cover?
- This grant covers materials, consumables (ie: wood, paint, batteries, etc), fixed assets, and operational costs (ie: propane, gasoline, etc) that are necessary to the art piece. This can include generators and other rentals.
- Transport and fuel costs can also be covered but cannot take up more than 50% of grant funds.
- Expenses regarding studio time or maker-space usage can be covered but should not be more than 15% of grant funding.
- Fixed Assets (e.g. tools, structures, electronics) may be submitted, but should be specialized, essential to the functionality of the project, and should be a relatively small portion of the expense. (i.e. a $50 tool in an $800 project is reasonable. A $50 wood sculpture requiring an $800 band saw is not). Any large cost fixed asset will need to be approved in advance and in writing by the ARTery Team or the expense may be denied. Please remember that tools and other fixed assets may be available for low-cost rental from a rental agency, or even a free loan from a community member. Don’t know a community member with a band saw? Ask on the various social media pages and email list; people love to help!
What will the Tip Of The Iceberg Art Project Grant NOT Cover?
- These grants will NOT cover any labour expenses, tickets to the event, personal outfits, alcohol, cannabis, or any illegal substances in Alberta.
Who is eligible?
- Any individual or established group may apply. For teams or groups, please have only one person submit an application for the group, preferably the person in charge of the project. If the grant is approved, the applicant(s) must attend Freezer Burn and must deliver the project according to their approved grant application. Please be aware that any significant changes to the approved application that have not received prior approval by the Art Grant Team may void the grant contract and any advance money paid by Freezer Burn will need be repaid.
How will grants be paid?
- Despite the early application deadline, the 50% advance of the grant amount will be paid upon approval by the ARTery Finance and Freezer Burn Finance Teams at the same time as other grant advances are paid. Successful applicants will need to sign a contract in order to receive their grant. Failure to sign the contract by March 20, 2025 will result in the Art Finance Team withholding your 50% advance payment. Failure to sign the contract by May 15, 2025 will void the contract and no funds will be reimbursed.
- The final 50% will be paid, pending approval by the Art Finance Team, upon the completion of the project and the submission of copies of all receipts through your online grant application.
- All payments will be made via e-transfer. If you cannot receive e-transfers, you must contact freezerburnartfinance@gmail.com to arrange alternate payment options. If your contact information for reimbursement is incorrect or you need to change it after the fact, you may be responsible for any additional bank fees incurred.
You are responsible for submitting all your receipts through the online grant application by July 2, 2025 or YOU WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED. NO EXCEPTIONS! (we are not kidding!)
A failure to execute your project as proposed and bring it to Freezer Burn, or the failure to properly submit your receipts will result in the ARTery withholding your grant money and can negatively impact your eligibility for any future art grants.
